Lucy Liu was born in America. She is an American actress, a singer and voice-over artist. In addition to being a beautiful and intelligent actress, she serves as a role model for numerous Asian actors who are in Hollywood who want to succeed. She gained fame after numerous popular roles in series. The most notable was the Ally McBeal series, where she played Ling Woo the villainous character. She translated her newfound fame into roles for the big screen, in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels and several other films. In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave a stunning performance as Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. She also played leading roles in box office failures like Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to voice prominent characters in animation films such as Kung Fu Panda. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia didn't yield any results. Southland's critically acclaimed police series, Southland and a recurring performance helped Liu to reestablish herself the status of an established actor. Liu selects her roles carefully so that she doesn't become a typecast character in the highly competitive field.
