Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number streaming music of that moment within just six months. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in 2016. The Despacito album reached its peak success in 2017, 19 tracks primarily made in Spanish reached at the very top of 100. The number grew to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018), while Madonna was a part of Medellin with Maluma (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream. But a newer generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and other styles was a common method.
